The heart and soul of Downtown San Diego is the Gaslamp Quarter. It is a 16½ block historical neighborhood extending from Broadway to Harbor Drive, and from 4th to 6th Avenue, covering 16½ blocks. It includes many historic buildings, most of which were constructed in the Victorian Era, and are still in use with active tenants including restaurants, shops and nightclubs. It is incredibly lively and full of energy. There are activities and entertainment for all.
The Quarter is home to many events and festivals, including Mardi Gras in the Gaslamp, Taste of Gaslamp, Shamrock, a St. Patrick’s Day event, and more. The are more than 150 Restaurants, casual cafes, bars, taverns and diverse nightclubs! The name sake of the Quarter, gas lamps line the streets of the Quarter on all blocks of the area.
Living in the Gaslamp Quarter is living in the center of everything Downtown San Diego. Keep in mind, residing in the Gaslamp Quarter is residing on the thick of all the action and city noise. For those seeking a more peaceful or serene setting in the evenings, The Marina District or Cortez Hill is recommended.
